1. weekly occurence

If my family and I have been doing something on a particular day every week for a while now, could I say:

"Visiting my grandparents has become a weekly occurence for us." (or something along the lines of that)

2. If I wanted to install a cabinet and I wanted to ask my mom how I should put it, could it be something like this?

Should I put the cabinet in portrait or landscape position? I don't know how else I should explain to you what I am trying to say.

Hope you can help me. If not, I will try to explain it better.

Thank you.
