I was wondering If using the past perfect tense in this sentence necessary.
The following is the sentence :
He ordered everyone to lie down on the area where he had burnt.
Instead of it,
He ordered everyone to lie down on the area where he had burnt.
Is it okay to write it in this way?
If it's not, does the sentence without the past perfect tense mean something different from the one that uses it?
In other words, can be misunderstood?
