I wanted to say - time flies very fast with the usage of the idiom "in the wink of an eye". The sentence goes like this - Time flies in the wink of an eye. Is this the correct usage of the idiom?

Yes, but the two phrases more or less mean the same thing. I'd just say eg Time flies! or eg Time goes by in the wink of an eye.
