I have read a story and I have found this phrase at the beginning of the sentence "In glancing" , so what does mean this phrase and what do we call this phrase and if there any lesson about this example please guide me for download it , in other words I want to know to begin the sentence with preposition with verbing

thank you for your answer , I know thant the present participle comes at first sentences but I want to know preposition and verbing at the beginning of the sentences and what does mean .
