Is it possible that both the present participle and the perfect participle be used interchangeably in the following item?

Because they had missed the bus, they had to take a taxi.

A. Having missed the bus, they had to take a taxi.

B. Missing the bus, they had to take a taxi.

Both sentences work for me. in ( A ), the sequence of events is more distinct and separated in time.. ( B ) seems to relate more to simultaneous events.
