Hello there!
I hope all is well with you.
I've been racking my brains to justify why the -ING form in the following sentence is correct.
Here is the question:
A:When did your family fly back to Hong Kong?
B: Yesterday morning. It wasn't easy saying goodbye.( correct usage of the -ING form )
I mean we can definitely say: Saying goodbye wasn't easy or an easy thing or even It wasn't easy to say goodbye.

I cannot say for sure, though, on what grounds the -ING form is acceptable after "It wasn't easy...
Any help?
