Should the word "succeed" in the above sentence be in the past tense or present?

In A's second sentence it should be succeed, because B has already said he did not yet pass the exam, so it isn't a question about B's past performance. A is now saying "If/when you do pass the exam (in the future), please be sure to let me know".
