I read the word comment as commitment and was confused.

Clive, does honest work with commitment?

He wasn't honest with his commitment.

In this sense:

He wan't honest with his commitment.

He made a commitment (a promise kind of thing), but didn't really fulfill or honor it.

Does the yellow sentence work in this sense?

The meaning only becomes clear to me if you use the words fulfill or honour.
