If someone asked you " where is your dad"..which one is the correct respond??" He went out or he was off today" " he's not here or he go somewhere" coz I'm confused which tenses should I use past or present ...tnx

can u explain it furthermore,please???Coz if he still in outside...how can u say it should be in the past tense?? this tenses giving me headache when I speak I don't know which one should I say...thanks in advance

He left the house. That's why "went" is used.
