Dear enlightened souls, I am having a bad day and can't get my head around why the following statement sounds clumsy: "Be assured that it is almost certainly not at all like your preconceived ideas might lead you to believe" how should this be worded please? Roger Sheldon UK

I don't feel terribly enlightened today, but I think your wording is fine. It can be "reduced", however. it is very likely not at all as your preconceptions might lead you to believe...

I don't feel terribly enlightened today, but I think your wording is fine. It can be "reduced", however.
"Be assured that it is almost certainly not at all like your preconceived ideas might lead you to believe" > ...it is very likely not at all as your preconceptions might lead you to believe...
