Grammar

Is it grammatically correct to say: (If you were German, we would've had a great conversation about this) ? or (If you had been a German, we would've had a great..etc.) or ( If you were German, we would have a great...etc.) I think the first one is correct but I can't match it with a grammar rule!

I know about the conditional types and rules, I am a native speaker, but I can't classify this particular sentence!!! Emotion: tongue tied pleas I need some help!

If you were German (at any time), we would've had a great conversation (in the past) about this. This is a mixed conditional and the most natural response, in my opinion.
