Hi
Please help me with these sentences.
1. We can say "Explain the inner meaning of the line."
" I come across this and think whether it is natural, that is, common among natives.
"Explain the inner meaning contained in this line."
2. You will be given 15 mins to read the passage.
Here, is given OK or is there a better word?

Top answer

1. Explain the inner meaning of the line / Explain the inner meaning contained in this line -- These are both natural. The first is more usual, since 'inner' presupposes 'contained'.
