Hi
Please tell me if this is OK:
Day by day, the number of vehicles on the road is on a steady rise. Petroleum which is extracted from the earth is fast depleting. The amount of petroleum available today is insufficient to its ever increasing demand and consequently its price is rising steadily. Countries like ours which have not become self-sufficient in petroleum are dependent on those where petroleum is available in surplus.

I have made some changes with what I have gathered from your indications.
Please tell me whether the changes are OK. I don't know what is wrong with surplus

I think it is "is on the steady rise".

It's a hard one.
We have the expression "on the rise", as in
Crime is on the rise.
Red meat consumption is on the rise.
But we don't have "on a/the steady rise".
It would be "is steadily rising".

Thank you very much, Terryxpress.
The way you guided me for these changes is really commendable.
