Grammar

Hello. I came across this earlier today. A friend wrote this in response to a question: " I am considering about it" I pointed out to her that it surely should be:" I am thinking about it", but I could not explain why her grammar (in my opinion) was wrong. Can you help with this?

I know that it would be correct to say:" I am giving it my consideration" . Or,"I am considering it"

Thank you,

Peter.

Hello, BritPete - and welcome to English Forums. There is really no other logic than that 'consider' = 'think about '. The two words are different: 'think' requires the preposition while 'consider does not'.
