Is it good form to use brackets within brackets?

e.g. As a point of pedantry (and I realise you haven't said specifically (rather insinuated) that they are) spiders aren't insects.

Hi, It's not really good form to use brackets at all. It usually means the writer doesn't want to take the time to word his sentences more carefully and more elegantly. Best wishes, Clive
