Thank you for your time. I am writing an invitation to invite teachers to a luncheon. Which (if either) would be correct?

Please attend a luncheon in apprecation FOR your dedication to our students. OR

Please attend a luncheon in appreciation OF your dedication to our students.

The first version sounds funny to me....so it's probably correct! Thanks!

Hi, I'd use 'of'. I'd also consider saying ' this luncheon' and ' your students'. Best wishes, Clive
