Hello,

Please,is there any difference between " I used to play tennis and I was used to play tennis?.

And can we say instead of " did you use to have lots of homework and were you used to have lots of hmoework"?.

I know that if we use "to be used to do sth"it means that we're accustomed to do it,but what I don't understand is "was/were used to".

Here is what I think: " I used to play tennis" means "I played tennis once" (and most probably don't play it anymore). It's like to say "I used to live in Brooklin when I was a child" "I was used to play tennis" is grammatically incorrect. I would say: "I was used to play ing tennis".

  • To be used to + gerund means to be accustomed to smth.
  • " in my opinion is correct.
