Grammar

Hi everybody, I am really glad to be in this site. I am Josfer and would like to know if someone can tell me what are the differences between prescriptive and descriptive grammar.

Hi Josfer, Welcome to the Forum. Here's a couple of very simple definitions. A prescriptive grammarian says 'these are the rules of grammar and anyone who doen't follow these rules is speaking incorrectly' A descriptive grammarian looks at the ways people actually speak, accepts that and tries to describe it.
