Gramatically incorrect??

i have a friend who said "is it ok to you?" but i corrected her by saying it should be "is it with you?" i know what i said was right however i can't explain why that is so, i mean why the preposition "with" is more appropriate to use in this question than the preposition "to". help pls? thanks!

There is often no reason why we use one preposition over another except historical usage. Here, Is it OK with/for you are both in use. I can say that 'to' is usually a preposition of movement– We went to the circus, Look to your friends – but there are also many cases where the reason is not obvious: It seems to me .
