Graffiti was scrawled all over the school's bathroom walls. This is what we always hear and see - in newspapers, on TV, etc.<br/><br/>But <b>graffiti </b>is plural, and <b>graffito</b> is singular.<br/><br/>Shouldn't it be, "Graffito <b>was </b>scrawled...." and "Graffiti <b>were</b> scrawled..."?<br/><br/>But who really uses <b>graffito</b>, right?<br/><br/>Please advise. Can we use <b>graffiti was</b>?
