Grade school Pronoun help

0 It's not too often I take issue with my daughter's teacher. She recently got a paper back with one item marked wrong. The assignment was to replace the underlined word(s) with a pronoun. The sentence was "A penguin has short wings." and the underlined word was "wings". My daughter had used "ones". It is the only pronoun that makes sense to me. Since the paper is expected to be "fixed" when sent home, the teacher provides no explanation/answer.02br
00Am I missing something, or is the teacher?02br
00Thanks in advance, Kieran 0-

00I agree with you - "ones" is the only subsitution that makes sense to me. (And even then, it only makes sense if "wings" had been the subject in the preceding sentenece.)0-

0 Perhaps the teacher was in a hurry or temporarily distracted and marked the item wrong by mistake. Ask the teacher.02br

So what's the answer, my daughter has the same answer and i can not figure it either.

Same answer as before: "ones" is the only one that makes sense. If you have gotten a similar answer from your child's teacher, please ask the teacher what he or she thought the right answer should have been.

Hi, Kieran

You now have our support for your answer, so it is time to go to the teacher.

Actually, the question was asked on Feb. 18, 2007. I think it's a little late to go to the teacher!

We are working on this problem tonight -- I told my daughter to put "things" she said that "things" is a noun so now we are going with "ones" after reading this. We will see...

It is 2018, and I am looking for an answer to this question as well. Lol.
