Gradable & non-gradable

Ascend & descend
Enter & exist
Both are non-gradable
How can I know if they are gradable on not?

Happy and sad are gradable - you can be rather/quite/very happy/sad.

Full and empty are unclear. Technically they are absolutes, but in practice they can be redefined, so that, for example, a suitcase can be full if there is no more room in it if it is neatly packed, but very full if it is bulging,
