Grabbed it off the table? Or from the table?

Hello, English native speakers.

Could you tell me which one sounds more natural to you?

1. He grabbed a doughnut off the table and squashed it.

2. He grabbed a doughnut from the table and squashed it.


FYI, he's sitting at his desk and was angry.

I'd appreciate if if you could enlighten me how different they are.
