Grab a hold on

Hi

It's a sentence from an article about meditation.

You shouldn't grab a hold on your thoughts but let them flow naturally.

Is it OK to say "grab a hold on ..."?

Thanks

I'm beginning to think your meditation guru is not a native speaker. "Grab a hold on" is very odd to the point of wrongness. We get a hold on something or get hold of it or grab hold of it or get ahold of it.
