There is no doubt about how science and technology have improved our lifestyle and shaped the world. Each day researchers and scientists are working relentlessly to discover different things that would bring dramatic changes to the world of medicine, technology, and biology. But the downside of scientific research sometimes overshadows the advancement it has brought to the world. Therefore, to regulate numerous scientific research and development, there should be effective rules and restrictions implemented by the government.
First of all, in the field of medicine, research has contributed a lot. Because of the continuous effort of scientists, diseases such as AIDS, which were once considered the main cause of death, are now preventable and curable. However, in the process of such a massive discovery, the record of animal cruelty has hiked. Many animals are being violently tortured and sometimes killed for testing medicines and various other research purposes. Recently, there was news in which it was shown how a rabbit being tested with a drug was disfigured because of the side effects of the drug. In order to control such kinds of atrocities on animals, the government should step up and force restrictions on how to safely use animals for research purposes without causing harm to them.
Technological progress is rapid and advantageous for every field like educational, medical, or industrial. We have seen the evolution of technology. X-ray machine, which helps to detect different internal health issues, robots capable of performing surgery, and single machine operating, automating the task of thousands of workers. These are all the results of consistent hard work from researchers and scientists. Nevertheless, there are negative sides to it. Different types of machines used for such discovery can emit harmful radiation which directly affects the environment and living organisms. The use of such harmful radiation and chemicals has resulted in different kinds of new diseases as well as increased the risk of cancer. So, there should be rules for taking preventive measures and restrictions for carrying out research with such harmful means in a protected environment.
Restrictions are not always demotivating. They can help to prevent accidents and negative consequences. Government can avoid a lot of losses in the future by taking a step in the present by forcing rules and restrictions. Consequently, scientific research and development would continue without affecting the environment and organisms.
