Essay & Composition Writing

"Government investment in arts, such as music and theatre, is a waste of money. Government must invest this money in public services instead." To what extent do you agree with this statement?

Many people hold the view that government budgets for the field of art, music, and theatre, are unnecessary and the administration has to spend this fund investing in public services. While I think using the money for arts brings a good look from foreign people to our country, I agree with the view that it is crucial to invest money in community activities.

On the one hand, it is reasonable to provide financial support for social issues. To begin with, in our society, human is the main subject, so human living prevails over the other side of our life. Instead of developing the appearance of society, the government should invest in the deeper core, which is health, environment, awareness, public activities, etc to contribute to the country and help the poor. For instance, living in a country has a low standard of living, and lacks anything but their authorities do not concentrate on spending money on necessary facilities and race in other unimportant fields, causing an underdeveloped country. As can be easily imaged the arts are the house, and living conditions are considered medicine. It's like a sick animal being bought a beautiful house but not given the medicine, which finally led to death. Therefore, the country should use the fund to organize public services.

On the other hand, sometimes, the government uses the money for arts, music, etc is also useful for the country. Developing the arts is a good way to advertise our culture and history and receive sympathy from international friends. We invest money to hold exhibitions, and concerts, and bring our tradition into the arts. Thereby, investing in arts, music, and theatre is not a waste of money for the government.

In conclusion, while I support those who claim that money is necessary for community activities, I disagree that the art budget should not be focused on the government. However, a key argument for me is that by spending money on people, we can improve the world generally.
