Gotta have/make it work.

I'm trying to say that I absolutely have to repair a piece of electronics.
"Gotta HAVE/MAKE it work". Assuming they are both correct, what is the difference? (Note: the phrase is meant to be in colloquial English).

If you say that you have to make it work , you are going to repair it yourself. If you say that you have to have it work, you may be getting someone else to repair it. In my variety of English, I'd' be more likely to get it to work / get it working / have it working.
