So the first sentence is 'Past Simple' and second is 'Present Perfect'?

Please tell me if I'm getting this right:

I got wasted - means that I was drunk but now I'm sober

I've got wasted - means that I'm still drunk?

That's the very general idea.

I think Americans tend to say 'gotten' instead of 'got' with the Present Perfect.
