Got(get/is) used to driving on the left

1. He got used to driving on the left.
2. He is used to driving on the left.

Can I say, "He got used to driving on the left, but he doesn't now because he haven't driven for years."
Q1) I think I can add the underlined after #1, but not after #2. Am I correct?

Q2) I took off "get used to driving on the left" which should go in after "but he doesn't" if it is not omitted. Am I correctely took off the repeated elements?

Q1) I think I can add the underlined after #1, but not after #2. Am I correct?-- Yes, but you could add it after 'He was used to driving' or 'He used to be used to driving'.
