Got to meet

Hi, could someone explain me the meanings of this expression? I read in another post that "go to" sometimes "is used to show that something unusual/special happened".
I've never heard about that, could you write down some examples?

to get to do something is to have the opportunity to do something desirable. It may be a sort of honor, privilege, or treat that the person has been wanting for some time. Getting to do something is a joyous occasion; not getting to do something is a disappointment.

The kids were very excited because they got to see the new Disney movie
