Got to end?

Once again we lost
All control to lust
Once again we loved
And never got to end

At first I thought 'end' was used as a noun, but realized 'the end' sounds more natural.

Anyway, I'm confused that 'got to end' means that their love broke up or lasted forever(=they loved until the end) or I'm totally wrong.
