Got the short end of the stick

Hi all

Is it natural to use the idiom this way?I want to mean that this hypothetical tutor is not really competent from what I've been told.

'Well it seems that you've got the short end of the stick with your tutor this year'

Thank you

Thank you for replying Optilang.

Just wondering. Were you using 'got/drawn the short straw' in a loose sense? It's just that my dictionary gives the definition as 'to have to do the least enjoyable of a range of duties, often because you have been chosen to do it'.

Thank you again
