Which one is correct?

A. I should have brought my sword with me. It would have got the job done.

Or

B. I should have brought my sword with me. It would have gotten the job done.

I was taught just the opposite! I'm beginning to wonder whether got and gotten aren't just in free variation throughout the whole English-speaking world.

Most speakers of BrE don't use 'gotten' at all.
