The sun cannot compare to you. You are more beautiful than the sun.
Sure, Jim is a good basketball player, but he's got nothing on Jason. (Jason is far superior. Jim cannot compare favorably to Jason.)

Not exactly; Clark is sweet-talking (i.e. flattering) Lana. He's effectively saying to her:
