"got it?" or "get it?"

If you want to check whether your friend understands what you've just explained, which expression is correct, "got it?" or "get it?"? I've heard "got it?" quite a lot, but I thought it's grammatically incorrect since you're talking about your friend's understanding for now. For example:

"Walk towards Salisbury Road, New World Centre and catch citybus no. 973 towards Stanley Market, got it?"

or

"Walk towards Salisbury Road, New World Centre and catch citybus no. 973 towards Stanley Market, get it?"

Which one is correct? By the way, I'm not a native speaker. Thank you very much.
