Vocabulary

Gorgeous, marvelous, stunning & fantastic

Hi all,

Sometimes i feel confused about the correct word choice in expressing like or wonder. For example, can the following be used interchangebly: gorgeous, marvelous, wonderful, stunning, fantastic ..... etc. I think that stunning is somehow informal, but what about the others?

Another thing, is there any difference in the use of the above-mentioned words? I mean, can anyone order them according to strength?

Regards,,,

There is no order of intensity-- it is a matter of the individual speaker's habitual word choice. e. 'informal') English.

  • Gorgeous tends to refer to visual wonders; for the others, I sense no specific differences.
  • Some can seem effeminate with the appropriate tone of voice.

There is no order of intensity-- it is a matter of the individual speaker's habitual word choice. The words themselves are neither formal nor informal, but as exclamations are a part of spoken (i.e. 'informal') English.
