Goose is cooked

Hi

Would you say that this expression is reasonably common among native speakers? Is it low-register?

If I am caught, my goose is cooked. (= I am in trouble)

Thanks,

Tom

When your goose is cooked, you are beyond being in trouble. Your downfall is a foregone conclusion. I believe it is a well-known informal expression.
