Google

I googled you and got 100 hits.

I know it's correct but what exactly does google mean?
What other words would you say?

I searched for you on the Internet and got 100 hits.

I put your name into the Internet for search and got 100 hits.

Are they correct?

Thanks

I won't comment on whether it is correct, but using "google" as a verb is becoming more and more common. Google is the most popular Internet search engine and the word is now almost synonymous with "search". However, I suppose the original meaning was "to search using Google".

  • In theory, if you search the Internet using Yahoo, MSN or other search engines, you can't say "google".
