Goof and gaffe

Hi.

What's the difference between gaffe and goof?

blunder and faux pass are usually considered as synonyms for gaffe. but definitions for goof is similar with blunder and gaffe.

I would be grateful if you could tell me the difference using examples.

Well gaffe and goof is not something I have really used, but Oxford puts it rather succinctly: Gaffe is a mistake which causes embarrassement to the person who caused the mistake . " Goof is a just a mistake. " Goof can also describe a person who is foolish.

Well gaffe and goof is not something I have really used, but Oxford puts it rather succinctly:

Gaffe is a mistake which causes embarrassement to the person who caused the mistake.
"He created a bit of a gaffe by calling her pregnant - you could see he was embarrassed by the redness of his cheeks."

Goof is a just a mistake.
"I goofed up by turning left at the sign
