Good/correct tense after this phrase

Hi, I was wondering what kind of tenses is possible after the phrase "He would be good if" and looked for help by going to the Google Book Search and seemed to have gotten mostly with past tenses after the phrase. I also have gotten this (ellipted) sentence:

... that he would be good if she would give him an apple.

Q1:Is the part that comes after the word "that" conditional like "I would do this if he did this"?
Q2: Would it make sense if I wrote "... that he would be good for the job if they decide to hire a person."?

Now, I think CalifJim said the modal "would" is used in both if-clause and main clauses if the actions involved is reciprocal like this:

If you would bring this to the meeting, I would bring that to the meeting.
