I made three different sentences with the same meaning. I want the best but I don't know which. Please help me.

1. Despite the good team players, they lost.

2. Despite being the good team, they lost.

3. Despite being the good team players, they lost.

Despite being a good team, they lost.
Despite being good team players, they lost.


These have slightly different meanings: the first means simply a good team overall, while the second means that in particular, they play well together, they are well-coordinate.

2. Despite being the best team (according to the press, etc), they lost.

this would be better, IMO.
