Any Irish folks here? I came across the expression "Good man ma da", and just about the only thing Google has to offer is that it's an "Expression of approval" (http://www.patricktaylor.ca/ptaylor language.html). Fair enough. But I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me what the "ma da" stands for? Bernard Share's Dictionary of Irish Slang doesn't have it. Maybe there's an alternative spelling? Is it still used? Where? Has anyone ever heard it anywhere else?
Thanks! Bernie
