good enough excuse

Hi. is the last sentence correct:

-Why didn't you come?
-I was tired
-Being tired isn't good enough excuse

I know that theoretically there should be an indefinate article there but I've seen it and heard it used without the artice so much that I started wondering if maybe both were correct (or at least acceptable)?
