Going/will

-Daddy I promise I'll be back by 12. Will you let me go, please?
-Daddy I promise I am going to be back by 12. Will you let me go, please?

I would say both are possible. What do you reckon?

Both are possible, but the future "will", not the future "going to", is normally used when making a promise. Therefore the first sentence is the more likely of the two.
