Going to a or the pool?

Hi. Please tell me which of the following two answers is correct. Could we place the definite article "the" before the word "pool" if the pool is known to others who might be reading the sentence?Thank you for your help in advance.

Q: What are you going to do this holiday?
A: I'm going to a/the pool.
