Going over

Here is the scene: At a family dinner, Simen prayed:"God, thanks for food. And if there is a god, God, please bring me a god that I've been wanting". Then his father said:"First of all, let me assure you, there is a god. And secondly, congratulations on going over our heads to get what you want. Good luck."

Could anyone tell me what does it mean by going over our heads? Thanks.

'Go over one's head' = appeal/apply to a higher authority.
