Going hiking?

I would like to seek someone to solve the following grammar problems



At Weekends, they like going to the beach or going hiking.



Go to + place

Go + gerund = activity



1. Is the following sentence correct?

They like to go to the beach.



2. Why two gerunds are put together?

“Going” = gerund

“Hiking” = gerund

: They go hiking, they have gone hiking, they will be going hiking , etc.

2-- 'Go' + -ing form is an idiomatic collocation which can take any finite form.: They go hiking, they have gone hiking, they will be going hiking, etc.

All your sententences are fine. The are put together because they both signify presense tense.

You can say "They like to go hiking" if you prefer or simply "They like hiking"
