Going abroad to study

It is true that overseas studies are becoming a popular tendency of young generations. Even though there are some drawbacks of studying abroad, I would argue that there are much more benefits.

The main drawback of going abroad to study is that there are so much different cultures between their country and host nation. Secondly, students may have problems with paperwork such as visa applications. Thirdly, these students also have to find their accommodation and pay their bills. Moreover, living without family in an unfamiliar land can cause homesickness, especially someone used to be protected by their parents. In addition, the language of other countries banner can be a problem. For example, in a foreign language is actually challenging for students who are restricted to using foreign languages.

Despite the negatives mentioned above, I believe that overseas studies are a positive development for various reasons. The first one is that, Foreign institutions may offer better courses, meaning they might consider enrolling in a study abroad program which gives the chance to see a side of their major that they may not have been exposed to at home through an increasing number of prestigious universities. Secondly, all qualifications gained abroad could help students open the door to get a better job and they can also broaden their horizons. Needless to say, all of these are very attractive to future employers. Finally, overseas students will become more independent at their own pace as they are responsible for cooking, cleaning, paying bills and to start control of their life. For example, my friend, who was an ex-classmate, has become confident in communication from a shy boy when he lives in his hometown.

In conclusion, while I recognize the possible disadvantages of going abroad, I consider it to be a positive development overall.
