Vocabulary

go/get to work

what's the differene between go/get to work

for example:

"Let's go to work!"

and

"Let's get to work!"

my guess is :

"Let's go to work" means going to another place to work.

"Let's get to work" means "Let's begin our work"

is that right?Thanks!

It depends on the locations of the work and the speaker: If they are at the workplace already, both phrases carry the same meaning: let us begin working . If they are not at the workplace, then both phrases mean let us travel there . Where they differ is: I go to work at 8:00 every morning = I leave home at 8:00 I get to work at 8:00 every morning = I arrive at the workplace at 8:00

Hly, if you have any specific examples it would help a lot in providing the explanation. What MM states in the above thread is absolutely correct, but I am not positive if it was necessarily in the context you wanted. Or was it just a general question?

To Danyoo:

yes,it's just a general question I came up with in my mind.

There are too much for me to learn.even it's a simple word..Because I realized that I can spell some pretty long words quite right, but make out nearly every odd sentence.

As a chinese-to-english translator ,I think my job is to translate.and moreover,I have to make the translated english sound as m
