I am a leader and a good member.
Besides academic performance, I attached equal importance to other interests such as sports, in search of a balanced individual development. Nowadays, I am the captain of my school’s basketball team. Communication skill and responsibility are as important as athletic skills to a leader. I am the central in match, but a friend in school. We win most matches in school and inter-school tournament. As a leader, I feel no other awards can be as important as my groups' praise and reliable.
Additionally, I took part in various contests, such as Creative Technology Competition, composition, and won awards and confidence for them. I am also a member of school tennis group. Extracurricular activities granted the spirit of team work. I learnt how to achieve a goal with other people, sharing pressure and happiness. Most importantly, the inter-personal ability paves my way for successful future study, because it serves as the best media between theory and application. Economics study calls for good communication, and I am now ready for any challenge.
I am a grandson.
Growing up in a traditional Chinese family, I spent a lot of my childhood with my grandfather. He is an educated elder, that interested in Chinese philosophy, especially the Confucius and Sun Tzu. His enthusiasm for the philosophy made a profound impact on me. Thus, I read the Analects and the Art of War while I was a primary scholar. Even though, I couldn’t understand the whole meanings of the books at that age, grandpa explained them again and again with patient. As becoming mature, I am gradually getting to know the key point of those theories. “Ren” (means “human-heartedness”), the main idea of Confucianism, give me a new explanation about "status": it should be determined by one's ability instead of ancestry or wealth. Accordingly, our destiny is in our hands, not depends on our parentages. We cannot change our origins; however, we can use our abilities to get a better "status"!
